The Stories Within: My Dad’s Gloves
Amber Ramey

Project Name
* My dad's red and dark blue Everlast boxing gloves still smell a thick scent of sweat, acting as a vessel containing memories and hope for the future.
* These boxing gloves have been alongside my father long before I came into this world and are reminiscent of his life before having kids and starting a family.
* The boxing gloves speak volumes about my father's ideals, fighting and staying strong with every obstacle thrown his way.
*The way he fought for every inch and his refusal to give up inspired me to pick up his ideas and apply them to how I wish to live my life.
My father's boxing gloves represent the struggle for his success, the discipline that shaped his life, and left a lesson behind; in part, the gloves show a mystery side to my father that shaped him into the man I know.

Project Name
The boxing gloves, although appearing a meaningless piece of junk scarred with rips, stains, and a stench of sweat, sit atop a wall mount, framed, with all its glory. Each tear in the gloves shows the extent to which my father used the gloves; each stain shows the
struggles endured by my father, and the smell of sweat displays the
constant drive for success that my father held. The memories the
gloves have are unique to my father, and I may never truly understand
the scope of these experiences. However, I interpret them with my
knowledge and find their meanings to have profound value in my life.
I view my father as an individual who refused to accept failure and
would triumph over his problems. The boxing gloves hold my father's
deep and complex war for success, which inspires me to pick myself
up and persevere through any events life throws my way.
